Closer Look

A study last year by the Congressional Research Service found that some 60 percent of all American combat casualties in Iraq and 50 percent of combat casualties in Afghanistan have been caused by improvised explosive devices, better known as IEDs. Randy Curry, a professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of MU's Center for Physical and Power Electronics, has been working with Boeing's Advanced Global Strike Systems division to assist in the development of technologies capable of remotely disabling these deadly devices.
